The resident bird of prey is the jackal buzzard and other species such as fish eagles, yellow billed kites and sparrow hawks also frequent the area. Knysna loeries are plentiful and more than 200 species of wild birds and waterfowl have been documented. There are good birding opportunities on the treetop boardwalk and the many waterholes.
